Commercial (Quantity Surveying and Purchasing)

It’s the role of our Commercial team to make sure that every investment we make, every penny that we spend, is spent wisely. From an estimate in the initial planning phases, to purchasing materials and negotiating the sub-contractor services we need to successfully deliver a project. Then, once work is underway, they monitor costs to ensure the development is being built within budget.

Career path

Quantity Surveyor

Commercial Manager

Commercial Director

  • “There are plenty of opportunities at Redrow, plus great people to work with, and a large support network. I started on Redrow’s Commercial Apprentice Programme in September 2014 before progressing to Assistant Quantity Surveyor, then Quantity Surveyor. On a typical day I could be involved in anything from take-offs, quantifying works and tendering new sites to meeting with sub-contractors. My role comes with plenty of variety and I particularly enjoy the fast-paced environment. Whilst working at Redrow, I have completed my BTEC Level 3 in Construction in the Built Environment, as well as completing my Edexcel Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Surveying, Property and Maintenance. With Redrow’s support, I will be starting my HNC degree in September 2021 in Quantity Surveying. I would definitely recommend working for Redrow; they honestly care about their employees’ well-being and enjoy giving us opportunities to thrive and succeed!”

  • "My journey with Redrow began in March 2019 when, after some months’ job hunting, I spotted the opportunity to become a Trainee Quantity Surveyor for Redrow’s East Midlands region. I jumped at the chance! I’d always had a passion for construction, since my family have been in the housebuilding industry for as long as I can remember. My daily responsibilities include maintaining subcontractor relationships, orders and payments, analysing business costs and keeping a site running within budget. I am currently working on my Redrow Construction Management (Housebuilding) degree, which enables me to acquire a wider industry knowledge whilst gaining on-the-job experience.  The opportunities I’ve been given since joining Redrow have been amazing, including attending business conferences, joining the Redrow Ambassador Scheme, and inspiring the next generation. I would definitely recommend Redrow to anyone interested - I’m so glad I joined and can’t wait to carry on progressing in my career!”
